![]() | Scripture for the Year By: |
2012 Scripture for the Year: “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15 NIV
2011 Scripture for the Year: “I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.” Luke 15:7 NIV
2010 Scripture for the Year: “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope - the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.” Titus 2:11-13 NIV
2009 Scripture for the Year: “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” Habakkuk 3:17-18 NIV
2008 Scripture for the Year: “Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever!” Deuteronomy 5:29 NIV
2007 Scripture for the Year: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV
2006 Scripture for the Year: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8 NIV
2005 Scripture for the Year: “My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.” Proverbs 2:1-5 NIV
2004 Scripture for the Year: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me with your whole heart.” Jeremiah 29:11-13 NIV
2003 Scripture for the Year: “And God is able to make all grace abound to you; so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8 NIV

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,”(Isaiah 55:8).
I invite you to go on a journey with me. One that you might think is insignificant at first glance, but in truth, is more important than any journey we might take. You will recall all that Jesus gave up to save us, i.e., the glory of heaven to become a man, to live and die on earth, and to rise and return to heaven so that you and I, and the entire world, might have life everlasting.
The thoughts, and indeed the command of Jesus to all disciples was plain, “Go therefore and make disciples” (Matthew 28:19-20). Jesus also says to you and me, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me” (Matthew 16:24). What is our cross? We have many crosses, but none as vital as the cross of visiting our neighbor and inviting them to the place we go every Sunday to hear the good news of salvation proclaimed. Bible Study, relationship, fellowship, prayer, songs of joy, worship and praise—a little “heaven on earth” - is not such a heavy cross after all. Come on a journey with me.

“Whoever will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.” (Mark 8:34)
What do you expect from Sunday school? Certainly, each of us has some expectations when we attend a Bible Study class on Sunday
morning. Your expectation may well be justified but, then again, they may not. We may expect the teacher to arrive early and be prepared to teach the class. We may expect a warm welcome from the teacher, class secretary, or certainly our Care Group Leader. We look forward to having time to visit with class members, and to be introduced to visitors. We willingly wait for prayer requests to be spoken and any special announcements to be made. Then, we expect to settle down for a time of Bible study.
After the class time is over and we are dismissed with prayer we look forward to moving to the worship service that follows. Life is good!
We finish the morning with a sense of having accomplished so much in such a short time. We can hardly wait until next Sunday to do it again. Friend, this is not what Sunday school and worship is all about! Sunday is a time for “filling the tank” with spiritual fuel for the journey that begins on Monday and ends on Saturday. Followers of Christ are not called to a two-hour weekly ministry, but to a twenty-four hour daily ministry. Jesus said we are to take up our cross and follow Him. Time, all too often, becomes our cross, and time is really crucial to those closest to hell.
![]() | Thank you GA and RA Leaders By: |
After the Wednesday night GA and RA Awards Program, I realized
that the hard work and many hours those leaders gave will have a
powerful, life-changing influence on those children. There is no way the
impact of that influence can be measured. In the years to come, God will
bless each child in His own way and that blessing will be multiplied many
times. I have been a member of this church for seventy years. So, “Thank you
GA and RA leaders, from my heart, for your commitment and compassion
in this so very important ministry.
Edna McDonald

Dear Church Family,
I am going back to Honduras in April to work. We’ll be
making much needed repair on the “Good News” radio station
which our crew built and has maintained since 2000, also repair
on pastors conference camp as well as repairs on housing
compound where we stay. Our building fund is $6,000 of which
I have been asked to raise $1,000 and my trip is $1,550.
I am asking if any of you could help the crew and myself, it
would be greatly appreciated. We will need it as soon as
possible. Thanks to everyone. I will need your prayers too.
